Science-A-Peel, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) corporation formed in New York State to bring a higher, more participatory level of education to the public regarding the field of science.
John F. Kennedy may have expressed it best when he said “science contributes to our culture in many ways, as a creative intellectual activity in its’ own right, as the light which has served to illuminate man’s place in the universe, and as the source of understanding of man’s own nature”.
Far too important and all encompassing is the field of science to rest its’ knowledge securely wrapped in the hands of the intellects and far above the grasp of the average man. With this said, the goal of Science-A-Peel, Inc. is to peel back the layers of science and to position education at the center of that role in a fashion that promotes the various branches of science as they address modern-day issues in an effort to foster active learning of science while responding to the pluralism/multiculturalism of the public.
To learn about the different branches of science:
Science-A-Peel, Inc. is now in its' fifth season of producing a weekly show that airs on Cablevision's public access channel 115 in Long Island. The show is called "Science is Appealing". Each episode highlights a different branch of science. You can see these shows on Cablevision's channel 115 on Thursdays at 8:30pm or you can go to the "video" tab of this website to watch it on the Internet.
Also go to the "Sci Resource" tab for a wealth of information on various branches of science including activities, qames and more.
And go to the Events page to learn about the The Great Greenlawn Sciencebed Race and Parade 2011. Efforts are underway for the 2012 race!!! Plus there you will find other planned events as well.
